The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. There is a light backwards slant to spine of book. This is an early edition, but not a First Edition (Harper & Bros. Switched to Harper & Row in 1962 and this edition states Harper & Row). The text pages are clean and bright. There is one small spot of darkening to rear endpaper. Illustrations alternate between full color and black and white. Dust jacket has some light edge wear, rubbing and bumping along with several edge tears, the most noticeable is an inch long (plus a smidge) tear to top spine end of dust jacket which travels down front spine joint. There is an little nick to bottom spine end of dust jacket also. The front cover of of the dust jacket has the Harper Blue Ribbon book seal . The dust jacket has a price of One dollar and fifty cents. "Cheerful was a city mouse, raised in a church.
